RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini College men's basketball team took the floor with a sense of urgency tonight, as they run past the Centenary College Cyclones 82-60 tonight at Nerney Field. The Cavaliers improved to 13-5 overall and 9-2 in the CSAC with the victory.
The Blue and White got a truly balanced effort tonight, as seven players scored at least seven points. Seniors
A.J. Williams and
Jeremy Knowles led the way with 12 points. Fellow senior
DeLeon Floyd tallied a season high 11 points, while junior
Jon Miller added 10 points.
After an early turnover and Cyclone bucket, Cabrini took control of the game, scoring the game's next seven points. Minutes later, the Cavaliers ran off to a 17-0 spurt
to establish a 27-6 lead midway through the half. The Blue and white used its defense to key the run, causing four Centenary turnovers during the five plus minutes.
Cabrini continued its solid play throughout the half, taking a 46-25 lead into the break. The Cavaliers turned nine Centenary turnovers into 13 points, while dominating the lane to the tune of a 24-10 advantage in points in the paint. The Blue and White connected on over 51% of its field goal attempts and recorded assist on 14 of its 19 first half buckets.
The halftime break did nothing to slow the Cavaliers as a Williams three pointer extended Cabrini's lead to a game-high 28 points midway through the half. The Blue and White continued its defensive effort, even with bench accounting for the majority of second half minutes. Centenary managed just 34.5% shooting, including 2-8 from the three point line.
Junior
Tim McDaniels tallied nine points, five rebounds, three assist and two blocked shots. Fellow junior
Fran Rafferty chipped in with eight points. Sophomore
Aaron Walton-Moss had a solid all around game with seven points, eight rebounds, nine assists, four steal and two blocks. Senior
Goran Dulac matched a season high with 11 boards.
Junior Andy Charles led the Cyclones (9-10, 6-6 CSAC) with 11 points, five rebounds and three steals. Fellow junior Joshua Case added 10 points. Junior Tim Brix led Centenary with six rebounds.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday as they look to avenge last Saturday's loss at Keystone. The game will tip at 4:00 p.m. as the second half of Cabrini's Basketball Alumni Day doubleheader. The Blue and White women basketball alumni game is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. follow by Cabrini's women's basketball game against Cairn University. Follow the men's game, the men's basketball alums will take the floor at 6:00 p.m.
