ROSEMONT, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team extended its current win streak to four matches with today's 3-1 win at Rosemont College. The Cavaliers improved to 4-5-2 overall and claimed victory in its 2013 Colonial States Athletic Conference opener.
The Blue and White jumped on the board early, as senior
Brett Lockbaum's cross found freshman
A.J. Bishop for the rookie's fifth tally of the season. Lockbaum put a second mark in the score book in the 22nd minute when he took advantage of a Rosemont miscue to score his fourth goal in as many games.
Rosemont cut into their deficit in the 32nd minute, but the Cavaliers wasted little time getting the goal back. They did just that in the 35th minute when sophomore
Boomer Steigelman's service found fellow sophomore
Mike Camacho for a header and Camacho's first goal of 2013.
Despite outshooting the Ravens 13-5 in the second half and earning nine corner kicks to Rosemont's zero, the Cavaliers could not put the ball in the net after the halftime break.
For the game, Cabrini outshot Rosemont 31-7, including eight shots from freshman
Bobby Kane and seven from Lockbaum. Senior goaltender
Eric Nowicki made two saves to earn the victory.
Rosemont's Max McDonald tallied 10 saves for the Ravens (1-9, 0-2 CSAC).
Cabrini will return to the pitch on Saturday as they welcome the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins (4-6-1, 0-0 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is slated for 12 Nooon.
