RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini men's soccer team fell to 6-2 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with today's 1-0 loss to the visiting Marywood University Pacers. The drops the Cavaliers to 9-7-2 on the season and third place in the conference standings with just one more league match remaining in the regular season.
The Blue and White also celebrated the career of its seven seniors,
Ryan Cerrato,
C.J. Doherty,
Joe Halbherr,
Gabe Kuhn,
Brett Lockbaum,
Brendan Magerr and
Eric Nowicki. As a group, they have led the Blue and White to 38 victories, including the 2012 CSAC championship.
The group has played a total of 343 matches in the Blue and White and combined and scored 102 points, including 41 goals while earning five All-CSAC honors and six Academic All-CSAC accolades.
The Pacers (10-2-2, 7-0 CSAC) tallied the match's lone score in the 14th minute as senior Christian Lawlor collected a loose ball in from of Cabrini's goal and deposited the ball in the net.
Both teams created scoring chances but the opposing defenses were up to the task. Both Marywood's junior goaltender Justin Sunseri and Cabrini's Nowicki recorded four saves on the day.
The Cavaliers recorded 10 shots, including four on target, to Marywood's nine. Freshman
Bobby Kane led Cabrini with three shots, while Doherty and Kuhn added two each.
The Blue and White will close the regular season with a trip to Langhorne, Pa. on Tuesday to face Cairn University. The action is slated to start at 3:00 p.m.
