RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini softball improved its chances to qualify for the Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament with today's sweep over Marywood University.  The 10-7 and 9-2 come from behind wins snap the clubs six game losing streak and improve to 11-9 in the conference and 12-20 overall.

Today's win was especially important for Cabrini's four seniors, Lindsey Atzert, Marcelle Crist, Taylor McGarvey and Missy Miller, who played their final game at Cabrini Field this afternoon.  The ladies made a major impact on today's game, as Miller and Crist controlled the pitcher's circle and the group combined to go 10-26 with seven runs scored and four RBI on the day.

The Pacers jumped to an early lead, as it took advantage of a pair of Cabrini errors to plate three runs in the top of the first inning.  It didn't take long for the Blue and White to respond.  Atzert opened the bottom of the frame with a bunt single and advanced to second when freshman Kaitlyn Cooper was hit by a pitch.  Both advanced a bag on a passed ball before sophomore Steph Diegel's double down the right field line scored both runners.

The score remained 3-2 in Marywood's favor until the top of the third when a Pacers' solo home run doubled the lead.  Again, the Cavaliers responded in the bottom half.  Sophomore Becca Miles' two out double to centerfield scored Cooper.  A Crist single to left plated Miles, evening the score at 4-4.

The Cavaliers fell behind again in the fifth, as Marywood scored three times, including a two-run homer.  Not to be outdone, the Blue and White's bats came alive in the bottom of the fifth.  A Marywood error allowed Cooper to reach first before Diegel clubbed her second home run of the season, a two run blast.

Miles and Crist drew walks ahead of freshman Molly McDougall who reached on the Pacers' second error of the inning.  Junior Bethany Feinberg's single to left scored Miles.  Miller helped herself with a two RBI single down the left field line to score Crist and McDougall, handing the Cavaliers a 9-7 lead.

The Blue and White added an insurance run in the sixth when Miles' single to left center scored Diegel, who opened the inning with a double.

Diegel went 3-4 with two RBI and three runs scored in the opener.  Miles and Crist each added a pair of bas knocks, while Miles and Cooper crossed the plate twice in the win.  Miller claimed the victory after scattering 12 hits and allowing five earned runs.

Game two started in a similar fashion to the opener.  Crist struggled to find her touch in the first inning, opening the game with a walk, a throwing error and two wild pitches, allowing the Pacers to take an early 2-0 lead.  From that point on, Crist shut down one of the league's top offenses, holding them to just eight hits over the next six innings, allowing just one runner to reach third base.

The Cavaliers rallied around the senior hurler in the bottom of the first inning.  Atzert led the frame with a bunt single and advanced to third on a Marywood two base throwing.  McGarvey drove her in with a single back through the box.  Diegel drew a one out walk, setting up Miles' monster shot over the left field fence, the sophomore's third home run of the season, and a 4-2 Cabrini lead.

The Blue and White added a pair of runs in the third.  McGarvey led the inning with a double to the fence and advanced to third on a Diegel single.  For the second time in the game, Miles scored McGarvey and Diegel, this time with an RBI double down the left field line.

Cabrini put the game out of reach in the bottom of the sixth inning.  Fienberg led the inning off with a single and advanced to second on sophomore Jessica Irvin's sacrifice bunt.  Atzert's infield single sent Feinberg to third. McGarvey's single to center scored Feinberg.  McGarvey's slow delayed steal of second base, allow Atzert to swipe home plate.  Diegel's single to left scored McGarvey, capping the three run frame.

Today's outing marked the best offensive day of McGarvey's career, as the senior recorded career highs with three hits, scored three runs and match a career best with two RBI.  Atzert and Diegel matched McGarvey with three base knocks.  Miles' four RBI also matched a career high. Crist posted the victory after holding the Pacers without an earned run and scattering nine hits.

The Cavaliers hope they can take today's mojo on the road with them tomorrow as they travel to Allentown, Pa. to face Cedar Crest College in both teams season finale.  First pitch for the CSAC doubleheader is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
