RADNOR, Pa. – For the third consecutive game, the Cabrini men's soccer team played well enough to win, but could not make the right connections before suffering a one goal loss. After a pair of 2-1 losses, the Cavaliers dropped a 1-0 result to Eastern University tonight at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The loss sends the Blue and White to an 0-5-2 start.
Though both teams crested solid scoring chances, the score sheets remained clean during the opening 45 minute stanza. The teams combined for 12 first half shots, with Cabrini earning three corner kicks to Eastern's one.
Both teams entered the second half looking to gain the momentum, but neither could, as the play continued up and down the field, sideline to sideline. The game remained scoreless until the 75th minute when Eastern reserve Benjamin Barnhart tallied the game's lone goal.
Tonight's action marks the third game in its last four that the Blue and White has outshot the opponent. The Cavaliers fired 14 shots to the Eagles' nine. Freshman Bobby Kane led the way with three shots, including a pair on target, while juniors George Lambritsios and Christian Martin joined freshman A.J. Bishop with two shots each.
Senior goaltender Eric Nowicki recorded one save in the Blue and White net. Freshman Joe Centeno tallied three saves for Eastern (4-1).
The Cavaliers will continue to look for their first win on Wednesday when the club makes the short trip to Phoenixville, Pa. to face Valley Forge Christian College (1-4). Game time is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
