Nine Players Score as Men's Soccer Claims First Win

Box Score

PHOENIXVILLE, Pa. – It took longer than expected but after seven games, the Cabrini men's soccer team scored its first win of the season, topping Valley Forge Christian College 9-0 today. Nine different players found the back of the net as the Blue and White improved to 1-5-2.

Cabrini wasted little time taking control of the game as freshman A.J. Bishop found senior Brett Lockbaum in the sixth minute to open the scoring. Less than 30 seconds later, Bishop tallied his first collegiate goal after converting a pass from junior George Lambritsios.

Freshman Bobby Kane recorded his first career tally in the sixth minute for a 3-0 lead. Senior C.J. Doherty increased the lead in the 19th minute with an unassisted goal, the fourth of his career.

Freshman Drew Vernon got into the scoring column with his first career points in the 25th minute. Junior Shaun Ostrowski increased the lead to 6-0 in the 36th minute with his first career tally.

The Blue and White maintained its lead until the 67th minute when senior Joe Halbherr scored his first career goal. Junior Rey Jimenez added to the lead in the 78th minute with his first goal of 2013, while freshman Tyler Bond closed the scoring in the 85th minute with the first of his career.

Goaltenders junior R.J. Pino and freshman C.J. Serratore recorded four saves while combining for the shutout.

Cabrini will have a few days off before it looks for its second win of the season next Wednesday as it visits Albright College (4-2) for a 7:00 p.m. nonconference tilt.
