RADNOR, Pa. - After a sluggish start to the season, the Cabrini men's soccer seems to have found its stride, as the Cavaliers won their third consecutive game this afternoon. The Blue and White earned a 4-0 victory over the visiting Delaware Valley College Aggies to improve to 3-5-2 on the season.
After a scoreless 29 minutes of play, freshman
A.J. Bishop opened the scoring with his third goal of the season as he collected a rebound from a
Logan Howell blast and placed it in the net. Despite outshooting the Aggies 12-3 in the first half, Bishop's was the only goal that separated the clubs after 45 minutes.
The Blue and White's relentless attack paid off in the second half. Senior
C.J. Doherty recorded his second goal of the season with an unassisted tally in the 50th minute. Four minutes later, Doherty found fellow senior
Brett Lockbaum whose shot found the back of the net for his third goal in the last three games.
Bishop added a second tally on the day in the 60th minute when freshman
Bobby Kane's cross found Bishop streaking to the goal.
The Cavaliers' 25 shots are the second most of any game this season, while Delaware Valley's six are the least Cabrini has allowed. The same can be said for Cabrini's 11-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Lockbaum recorded a game-high five shots, while Bishop and fellow rookie
Mo Konneh added three each. Goaltenders senior
Eric Nowicki and freshman
C.J. Serratore each recorded one save to record the Blue and White's first shutout victory of the season.
Max Drummond and Justin Mannato recorded two shots each for the aggies (4-4-1).
Cabrini will open CSAC play on Tuesday when they face Rosemont College (1-8, 0-1 CSAC) in a rematch of the 2012 CSAC Championship game. Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
