IMMACULATA, Pa. – Five Cavaliers recorded at least nine kills tonight, as the Cabrini volleyball team rallied for a tightly contested 3-1 victory at Immaculata University.
With the win, the Blue and White improved to 12-5 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference. The Cavaliers also extended their win streak to six matches and their CSAC win streak to 18 matches.
The Cavaliers fell behind for the first time in over three weeks, as Immaculata scored the final three points to take the first set 28-26. Cabrini rallied in the second set, maintaining a lead throughout the frame before closing it out 25-17.
The Mighty Macs built a six point lead midway through the third set before a 12-3 Cabrini spurt put the Blue and White ahead for good, as it scored a 25-22 victory.
The final set played out much like the third, as Immaculata built an early six point lead. The Cavaliers again rallied, taking their first lead at 20-19. Cabrini trailed 23-22 before scoring the match's final three points for the 25-23 win.
Freshman
Chelsea Jones led the Cavaliers' offense with a career high 15 kills. Fellow rookie
Anne-Marie Jones recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Senior
Amy Guarino scored her first triple-double of the campaign, recording 10 kills, 12 digs and 28 assists. Junior
Cassidy Koenig added her third double-double of the season, pairing 29 assists with 13 digs.
Sophomore
Kelly Guarino tallied 14 digs, while junior
Jen Grenauer recorded nine digs. Sophomore
Nicole Sokolovich added nine kills and 10 digs.
The Cavaliers will put their win streak on the line on Tuesday, as they visit Rosemont College (2-13, 1-3 CSAC). First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m.
