READING, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team suffered its first loss in 52 days today, as the Cavaliers dropped its regular season finale 3-1 at Alvernia University.  The loss closes the Blue and White's regular season 12-4.

The Crusaders jumped ahead in the 19th minute, tallying the only score of the opening 35 minutes of action.

The Blue and White evened the score in the 39th minute, as senior Tori Canelli found sophomore Taylor Mack for her 10th goal of the year.

The game was tied for 16 seconds, as Alvernia notched the eventual game-winner before adding an insurance goal in the 66th minute.  

Cabrini accounted for just four of the game's 11 shots in the defensive battle, including just one on goal.

Freshman goaltender Taylor Bookman recorded two saves in the loss.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday at 4:00 p.m. when they welcome Immaculata University (7-12, 3-4 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field for a Colonial States Athletic Conference semifinal game. The winner will advance to Saturday's CSAC championship game.

Cabrini scored a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory over the Mighty Macs just one week ago.  Junior Jen Webb broke a scoreless tie in the 50th minute before fellow junior Kerry Anne Farrell ended the game just 80 seconds into the overtime period.
