RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team secured a seventh consecutive CSAC championship game appearance tonight, as it downed Immaculata 3-0 in a CSAC semifinal round game at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The victory improved the Blue and White to 13-4 on the season.
Cabrini will face the winner of tonight's second semifinal, pitting second seed Gwynedd Mercy (13-5, 6-1 CSAC) against number three seed Neumann (11-8, 5-2 CSAC). The Cavaliers will host the championship tilt on Saturday at a time to be determined.
The Cavaliers controlled much of the action, as it outshot Immaculate 16-3 and earned 10 penalty corners to the Mighty Macs' three. Sophomore
Taylor Mack led Cabrini with a season high seven shots, while junior
Kerry Anne Farrell tallied three.
Despite a 9-1 shot advantage in the opening half, the Blue and White could not find the back of the net. Farrell changed that in the 31st minute, as the junior
Jen Webb found her on a penalty corner for Farrell's first tally of the day.
The junior returned to the scoring column in the 39th minute as Mack found her for her 26th goal of the season.
Webb sealed the victory in the 52nd minute with an unassisted tally, her 11th goal of the year.
Freshman goaltender
Taylor Bookman earned her second shutout of the season with a pair of saves.
The Cavaliers are playing their November games in honor of those who have been affected by lung cancer, including Bookman's mother Dana who lost her battle in March 2013.
