HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – The Cabrini softball team experienced the highs and lows of athletics today, as the club split a CSAC doubleheader at Centenary College, improving to 1-6 (1-1 CSAC). The Cavaliers used a dominant pitching performance to score a 9-0 win in the opener, before suffering a 5-4 10 inning loss.

Taylor Gallagher cruised to her first collegiate victory in the day's first game, as the rookie allowed just three hits to earn a complete game shutout. The Cavaliers got all the offense they needed in the top of the first inning, as junior
Steph Diegel's double scored sophomore
Kaitlyn Cooper.
Diegel again ignited the offense in the third inning, as her second double of the game plated Cooper and freshman
Amber Dietrich. Two batters later, sophomore
Lea Enoch singled to center field, scoring Diegel. Gallagher helped her cause with an RBI sacrifice fly. Later in the frame, freshman
Lindsay Savar knocked in a pair of runs with a single to right center.
The Blue and White closed the scoring in the sixth inning, as junior
Becca Miles' singles down the left field line scored Cooper and freshman
Taylor Mack.
Cabrini fell behind early in the second game, as the Cyclones tallied a run in the bottom of the first. The Blue and White evened the score with an unearned run in the third and took the lead with another unearned run in the fourth. The Cavaliers held its 2-1 lead until the bottom of the seventh when back to back, two out doubles tied the score for Centenary.
The game stayed knotted until the top of the 10th inning. The Cavaliers grabbed the lead in the 10th, as Gallagher's single through the left side scored Diegel. Three batters later, Cabrini extended its lead to 4-2 as freshman
Brianna Milillo's groundout scored Miles.
For the second time in the game, the Cyclones were down to their last out before rallying to earn the victory. Centenary used a two out single to left to score a pair of runs for the walk-off win.
Gallagher accounted for two of Cabrini's seven hits in the nightcap, while Miles scored a pair of runs. Freshman
Kiley Sharp went all the way in the pitcher's circle, allowing for earned runs and striking out three.
The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as the welcome the Immaculata Mighty Macs to Cabrini field for a CSAC double dip. First pitch is slated for 12 Noon.
