NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – After scoring a 3-0 win over Virginia Wesleyan in its opener, the Cabrini volleyball team dropped each of its next three matches at the Christopher Newport Captains Classic, falling to 1-3 on the young season.  The Cavaliers suffered a pair of 3-0 losses today at the hands of the Washington and Lee Generals and the No. 25 ranked host.

Freshman Anne-Marie Jones and junior Jen Grenauer tallied seven kills in the Blue and White's 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 loss to the Generals.  Sophomore Kelly Guarino posted 15 digs, one more than senior Amy Guarino and two more than Jones.  Junior setter Cassidy Koenig added 24 assists and four service aces in the loss.

The Cavaliers fell short as they looked to bounce back against Christopher Newport, falling 25-14, 25-12, 25-12.  Grenauer led the Cabrini attack with six kills, while Koenig paired 11 assists and eight digs.  Jones recorded a team high 12 digs.

Cabrini will host local rival Widener University (0-2) on Thursday, as it looks to snap its longest losing skid since a four game streak to open the 2008 season.  First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the Nerney Field House.
