SWARTHMORE, Pa – The Cabrini volleyball team split a pair of matches at today's Swarthmore College Garnet Classic. The Cavaliers scored a 3-0 win over Wilkes University before falling to the host Garnet 3-1. The Blue and White closed the weekend with an overall record of 6-5.
The Cavaliers displayed a balanced attack in its 25-14, 25-23, 25-19 win over Wilkes, with five players tallying at least five kills. Junior
Jen Grenauer led the way with nine kills, while senior
Amy Guarino recorded eight. Junior setter
Cassidy Koenig joined freshmen
Chelsea Jones and
Anne-Marie Jones with six each.
Sophomore libero
Kelly Guarino posted 20 digs on the day, while Koenig paired 26 assists with six digs.
Anne-Marie Jones and
Amy Guarino also recorded double-digit digs with 13 and 10, respectively.
The Blue and White could not maintain its momentum in the day's second match, as it fell 25-19, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22 to Swarthmore.
Amy Guarino and
Anne-Marie Jones recorded double-doubles in the loss. Guarino paired a match-high 15 kills and 14 digs, while the rookie recorded 14 kills and 12 digs.
Koenig controlled the offense with 34 assists, as
Kelly Guarino posted 20 digs. Koenig and
Anne-Marie Jones also tallied three service aces each, one more than
Kelly Guarino.
The Blue and White will return to Nerney Field House on Wednesday, as the club hosts Haverford College (5-4). First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
