Farrell's Four Goals Lead to Field Hockey win

RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team scored its first ever win over Stevens Institute of Technology today, topping the Ducks 6-2 at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The victory, the Cavaliers' third in a row, improved the club to 4-3 on the season.

Junior Kerry Anne Farrell led the Blue and White attack with a career high four goals, giving her nine on the season.   Sophomore Taylor Mack added a goal and an assist in the victory.

The Cavaliers controlled the flow of the game the opening whistle, as they outshot Stevens 13-0 in the first half.  Farrell put the Blue and White ahead in the 16th minute, as she converted a pass from freshman Jackie Neary.

The Blue and White created some space between it and Stevens in the final minutes of the opening half with three late goals.  Mack doubled the lead in the 30th minute off a pass from senior Karlie Gruccio.

Farrell notched two goals late in the half, one unassisted and one on a pass from Mack.  The junior's 32nd and 35th minute tallies put Cabrini up 4-0 at the halftime break.

The Ducks got on the board in the 40th minute but Cabrini answered less than two minutes later, as senior Tori Canelli found Farrell for her fourth tally of the afternoon.

Stevens added another goal in the 49th minute before junior Jen Webb's unassisted goal in the 52nd minute closed the scoring.

Cabrini fired 23 shots in the win, including 19 on target, while the Ducks attempted just seven.  Farrell led the Blue and White with eight shots, while Mack attempted six.

Freshman goaltender Taylor Bookman recorded five saves in the victory.

The Blue and White will return to action on Saturday as it opens Colonial States Athletic Conference play against Keystone College (2-6, 1-0 CSAC) at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is slated for 4:00 p.m. as the fourth of five contests during Saturday's Homecoming celebration.
