GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team suffered its first Colonial States Athletic Conference loss of the season today, falling at Gwynedd Mercy 5-2.
The loss dropped the Cavaliers to 7-7 overall and 3-1 in league play, the team's first conference defeat since October 26, 2013, a span of 10 games.

The lead was short lived, as the Griffins evened the score in the 15th minute. Cabrini didn't wait long to regain the lead, as a cross from junior
Taylor Mack found senior
Tiffany Phillips, as the senior netted her 14th tally of the campaign.
The Cavaliers maintained their lead until the 31th minute when Gwynedd Mercy evened the score and carried the momentum into the halftime break.
While Cabrini recorded six second half shots on goal and earned five penalty corners after the break, the Cavaliers could not find the back of the net. Meanwhile, the Griffins took advantage of its opportunities, scoring three goals on just five second half shots to earn the victory.
Phillips led the Cavaliers with three of its nine shots on the day, one more than fellow senior
Kerry Anne Farrell.
Sophomore goaltender
Taylor Bookman recorded four saves in the loss.
Melissa Russo led Gwynedd Mercy (9-4, 5-0 CSAC) with two goals and an assist.
Cabrini will look to snap its two game skid on Wednesday, as it welcomes Cedar Crest (2-11, 1-2 CSAC) to Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
