LA PLUME, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team completed a rare road doubleheader today, as the Cavaliers topped Summit University 3-0 in Clarks Summit before heading to La Plume, where it defeated Keystone College 3-1.
The victories improved the Blue and White to 20-6 overall, the club's eighth consecutive season reaching the 20 win plateau.
Cabrini also extended its Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak to 36 matches. At 10-0 in league play, the Blue and White also clinched a berth in the upcoming CSAC Tournament, slated to begin on November 3.
The Cavaliers stepped off the bus ready to play against Summit, earning a straight set 25-15, 25-11, 25-13 victory.
Senior
Jen Grenauer paced the offense with 10 kills, while sophomore
Nicole Sokolovich added six. Senior
Cassidy Koenig paired 32 assists and seven digs, while junior
Kelly Guarino recorded a team-high nine digs.
Freshman
Emily Shannon posted a career high five service aces to go with her three kills and four digs.
After its opening victory, the action moved to Keystone, where the Cavaliers struggled to open the nightcap. The Giants built an early lead and claimed the first set 25-23
before the Blue and White regrouped to win the next three sets 25-18, 25-19, 25-19.
Koenig scored her ninth double-double of the season, pairing 40 assists and 12 digs. Grenauer tallied a match-high 14 kills, one more than Sokolovich.
Guarino led the Cavaliers with 13 digs, while Sokolovich and senior
Harlee Scanlan tallied nine each. Grenauer and sophomore
Chelsea Jones posted three total blocks each. Jones also scored a team-high three service aces to go with five kills.
The Cavaliers will head to Glassboro, N.J. for this weekend's Rowan University Quad. Cabrini will face the host Profs (11-14, 5-3 NJAC) on Friday before meeting the University of Scranton (21-9, 5-2 Landmark) and New York University (11-13, 1-6 UA) on Saturday.
