RADNOR, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team kept its Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak alive tonight, as it swept Marywood and Rosemont tonight in a tri-match at Nerney Field House. The 3-0 victories extended the win streak to 31 matches and improved the club to 14-5 overall and 5-0 in the CSAC.
The Blue and White wasted little time in dispatching the Pacers in the opening match of the day, scoring a 25-7, 25-13, 25-13 victory.
In the first set, junior
Kelly Guarino notched her 1,000th career dig, joining Sophia Sokolovich, Lindsay Martin and Courtney Abel as the only players in program history to reach the plateau.
The junior finished the match with 21 digs and five service aces. Senior
Cassidy Koenig directed the offensive attack to the tune of 31 assists. Classmate
Jen Grenauer totaled 10 kills, one more than sophomore
Chelsea Jones and two more than sophomore
Nicole Sokolovich.
Despite a two hour layoff, the Blue and White didn't lose any steam as it took the court to face Rosemont in the night cap. The Cavaliers earned a season-high 0.458 hitting percentage with just five attack errors in the 25-7, 25-9, 25-10 win over the Ravens.
Grenauer earned match-high honors with seven kills, while senior
Christine Ingargiola and sophopmore
Anne-Marie Jones added five kills each. Koenig added 25 assists, while Gaurino and freshman
Kassie Ockford combined for 11 digs.
Cabrini recorded 17 service aces in the victory, with Guarino leading the way with six. Koenig, Sokolovich and freshman
Emily Shannon added three each.
In the night's middle match, Marywood scored a 3-0 (25-10, 25-18, 25-14) win over Rosemont. Freshman Mallorie Deschaine tied a Marywood record with 16 kills in a three-set match. Deschaine also led the team with seven digs and five aces. Sophomore Danielle DeIulio added 16 assists and three aces for the Pacers.
Junior Maria Athenasiadis and sophomores Leilani Carter and Morgan Rollins notched four kills each for the Ravens.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Thursday, as they head to Allentown, Pa. to face Cedar Crest College (3-11, 1-2 CSAC). First serve is slated for 7 p.m.
