GWYNEDD VALLEY, Pa. – For the first time since 2010, the Cabrini field hockey team left the Colonial States Athletic Conference Championship game with a good feeling, as the Cavaliers scored a 2-1 win at Gwynedd Mercy to capture the program's third conference title and first since 2010.
The win also snapped a four game losing streak to the Griffins in the CSAC title game.
With the victory, the Blue and White improved to 12-8 on the season and punched its ticket for the 2015 NCAA Tournament, scheduled to open on Nov. 11.
The Cavaliers will learn their NCAA Tournament fate on Sunday night, when the selections and hosts are announced.
Today's action was a defensive battle from the opening whistle, as the teams combined for just 10 shots each.

Tiffany Phillips opened the scoring in the 31st minute, as she punched in a pass from sophomore
Jackie Neary for her team-leading 18th goal of the season.
Cabrini took its 1-0 lead into the half on the strength of sophomore goaltender
Taylor Bookman, who recorded six of her eight saves in the opening stanza.

Kylie McDevitt. The junior's shot found Webb, who redirected the shot over the Griffins' goaltender.
Gwynedd Mercy notched the scorebook in the 53th minute, when Kaitlyn Lutz's pass found Melissa Russo.
Both teams created scoring chances in the game's final 10 minutes, but it was another defensive stand in the game's last two minutes that sealed the victory.
The Griffins created three penalty corner opportunities in the final two minutes and recorded two of its three second half shots on goal, but the Cavaliers stood firm. Bookman recorded her final two saves in the last 90
seconds of action, including her final save with 22 seconds on the clock.
Bookman earned Most Valuable Player honors with her second highest save total of the season.

Kerry Anne Farrell led the Cavaliers with six shots, while Phillips added two in the win.
Russo and Megan Senkeleski led the Griffins (13-6) with three shots each.
