Cabrini Softball to Host Rosemont on Monday

RADNOR, Pa. - The Cabrini softball doubleheader against Rosemont will be played on Monday, March 30 at Cabrini Field. The first pitch is set for a 2 p.m. start.

The Cavaliers and Ravens met last season in Rosemont, Pa., where the Blue and White took home a pair of 8-2 and 9-0 wins.

Cabrini led 8-0 in the first game, before the Ravens answered back with two runs in the sixth. Junior Kaitlyn Cooper and sophomore Taylor Mack combined for four RBI in the win.

In the second meeting, sophomore Kiley Sharp led the Blue and White to victory with a seven inning shutout, allowing five hits with four strikeouts. A trio of Cavaliers notched two RBI each, including sophomore Amber Dietrich, who hit her first career home run.

Cabrini, 6-4 overall and 2-0 in the CSAC, are winners of four straight and come into today's action after a pair of 6-5, 8-4 home wins against Eastern on Tuesday.

In the first game, the Eagles held a 5-0 lead going into the fifth inning but Cooper had an answer. The junior led the way, sending two three run home runs over the fence, including a seventh inning walk-off slam to left center.

Freshman Alexandria Ramos was perfect from the plate, tallying two hits and two clutch walks in four at bats. Senior Becca Miles was 3-3 in the batter's box, while freshman Jess Giordano earned the win in the pitchers circle.

Ramos doubled in the first inning, scoring freshman Christina Ferraro. In the bottom half of the third inning, senior Steph Diegel hit a three run home run, for her first homer of the season. Ramos singled up the middle in the fourth, advancing freshman Victoria Hall and scoring freshman Sarah Beckner. Later on in the fourth with the bases loaded, Diegel lined one over the third baseman's head, scoring Hall on the play. An error by the shortstop led to another Cabrini run a play later.

The Eagles scored in the fifth but the Blue and White got the run back on a throwing error by the third baseman.

Freshman Kaitlyn Hohman earned the win in the circle for Cabrini. The rookie pitched six innings, struck out an Eagle and allowed just three runs on five hits. Diegel was two for three at the plate with a game high four RBI. Ramos went 2-4 in the batter's box and picked up a pair of RBI.

Cooper leads the conference with 15 RBI, while the junior's two home runs rank her second.  Diegel leads the Blue and White with 13 hits, good for fourth in the CSAC and her 11 RBI rank fifth in the conference. Ferraro is first on the team and second in the conference with 11 runs scored.

Hohman is 2-0 in the pitchers circle this year, leads all Cavalier pitchers with an ERA of 2.00 and has a team high nine strikeouts. Sharp is 3-1 with an ERA of 2.21 and has three strikeouts.

The Blue and White will face a Rosemont team that has been off since March 6. The Ravens closed its spring trip to Myrtle Beach with an 0-8 mark after falling 6-5 to Grove City and 14-0 to No. 22 Rowan.
