ASTON, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team split today's doubleheader at Neumann, falling 3-0 in game one, before topping the Knights 3-2 in the nightcap. The Blue and White are now 13-6 overall and 9-2 in the CSAC.
The Cavalier offense struggled to produce in game one. Freshman Christine Ferraro led the way with a pair of singles and added a stolen base, while four other Cavaliers tallied a hit in the loss.
The Knights notched nine hits, including a solo home run in the second and a fifth inning two run home run to account for the winning runs.
Sophomore Kiley Sharp pitched six innings, struck out four Knights, scattered nine hits and allowed three runs.
In game two, the Cavaliers opened the scoring In the third inning. With two outs, Ferraro reached on an infield single. Sophomore Amber Dietrich followed with another infield single, while Ferraro advanced to third on the play. Junior Kaitlyn Cooper then singled to second base as Ferraro came home to score.
Neumann got the run back and added another in the bottom half, scoring two runs on three hits.
In the fourth, senior Becca Miles led off with a single to shortstop. Sophomore Brianna Milillo subbed in to pinch run for Miles and reached second following sophomore Natalie Giannascoli's SAC bunt. Sophomore Lindsay Savar then homered to left field, scoring Milillo with her second round tripper of the year.
Freshman Kaitlyn Hohman went on to pitch four scoreless innings to earn the win. The freshman tossed a complete game, struck out four Knights and surrendered just two runs on nine hits to earn her fifth win of the year.
Ferraro, Dietrich, Cooper and Savar each notched a pair of hits in the win.
The Blue and White will host Centenary (6-14, 5-1 CSAC) in a conference doubleheader on Tuesday at 3 p.m.
