Box Score 2 BALTIMORE, Md. – The Cabrini softball team topped Notre Dame of Maryland 16-0 and 14-1 to improve to 11-5 overall and 7-1 in the CSAC.
The Blue and White jumped out early in the opener, scoring three runs in the first inning. Freshman
Christine Ferraro crossed home plate after a throwing error by the catcher. Sophomore
Taylor Gallagher singled the next at bat, advancing the runners and plating sophomore
Amber Dietrich. With the basses loaded, sophomore
Natalie Giannascoli reached first on a walk, while senior
Becca Miles came home to score.
The Cavaliers were held scoreless in the second inning but scored two runs in the third inning. Dietrich reached on a fielder's choice, while Miles scored from second base after a botched throw from the second baseman. Dietrich crossed home plate after a Giannascoli single.

Steph Diegel's single scored junior
Kaitlyn Cooper. In the fifth inning, Gallagher reached on an error by the shortstop and later scored on freshman
Victoria Hall's single.
The Cavaliers tallied nine runs on nine hits in the seventh inning, including back to back home runs from sophomore
Lindsay Savar and Cooper to ice the Gators. Savar's grand slam was her first tally on the year, while Cooper's solo shot was the junior's fourth this season.
Sophomore
Kiley Sharp earned the win in the circle after another solid outing. The sophomore pitched five innings, struck out seven Gators and scattered just three hits in the win. Freshman
Jess Giordano pitched two innings, struck out two batters and surrendered a hit.
Diegel was 3-4 in the batter's box and notched a RBI, while nine other Cavaliers tallied at least one RBI in the win.
The Blue and White got off to another solid start in the nightcap, scoring three runs on three hits. With runners at the corners, Diegel singled through the middle and scored freshman
Alexandria Ramos on the play. Cooper came home to score on a wild pitch the next at bat. Dietrich's single two batters later plated Diegel.
The Cavaliers surrendered a run in the bottom half but scored four runs on four hits in the third inning to extend the lead to 7-1. With two outs, Savar drew a walk to keep the inning alive. Giannascoli followed with a double, advancing Savar to third. Sophomore Talyor Mack singled a play later, plating Savar, followed by a Ferraro RBI single. Ramos then stepped in the batter's box and singled to the outfield, scoring Ferraro and Mack.
The Cavaliers scored five runs in the fourth inning and two in the fifth to complete to sweep. Miles hit a home run in the fourth for her first tally on the year. Four Cavaliers earned a pair of RBI in the win. Cooper was 2-3 in the nightcap and notched her seventh double of the season.
Freshman
Kaitlyn Hohman pitched five innings, struck out five Gators and surrendered a run on three hits on 18 batters faced.
The Cavaliers are back in action tomorrow when the team hosts Gwynedd Mercy (12-4, 7-1 CSAC) in a doubleheader at Cabrini Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
