HAVERFORD, Pa. – The Cabrini field hockey team struggled to gain its footing in today's season-opener, as the Cavaliers suffered a 6-0 loss at Haverford College.
The Blue and White was outshot 20-13, including 13-5 in shots on goal. Cabrini earned a 12-3 edge in penalty corner, with nine coming in the second half, but the club could not convert them into goals.
Haverford opened the scoring in the 15th minute, but put the game away in a 10 minute span late in the first half, during which four Fords notched the scoring column.
The Cavaliers trailed 5-0 at the break, a score that stood until Haverford ended the scoring in the 52nd minute.

Jen Webb and
Danielle Palatano notched three shots each for Cabrini, while junior
Kylie McDevitt and sophomore
Sara DeVita added two each.
Sophomore
Taylor Bookman and senior
Kate Stevens combined for seven saves in the loss.
Natalie Leslie and Elena Veale scored two goals each for the Fords.
The Blue and White will look to regroup before heading to Madison, N.J. this weekend for the Drew University Fall Festival. The Cavaliers will face No. 12 Montclair State (1-0) on Friday and the host Rangers on Saturday.
