MADISON, N.J. – The Cabrini field hockey team suffered its second consecutive loss to open the 2015 season, as it fell to No. 12 Montclair State 7-1 at the Drew University Fall Festival.
The Cavaliers fell behind early, as the Red Hawks netted two goals in a 39 second span of the early minutes. The Blue and White could not mount a comeback, as it mustered just one shot in the opening 35 minutes of action. Montclair State took advantage, adding four more goals before the halftime break.
While the Cavaliers were outshot 7-1 in the first half, they generated seven of the eight first half penalty corners, but could not convert them into shot attempts.
The Blue and White fell behind 6-0 in the early minutes of the second stanza, but responded in the 42nd minute, as sophomore
Victoria Marchiani collected a loose ball and deposited it in the back of the net for her first career goal.
Marchiani collected two of the Cavaliers' four shots on the day, while senior

The Blue and White will return to action on Saturday at Noon, when it faces festival host Drew University (1-1). The Rangers fell to Lebanon Valley 2-1 in the opener of the two-day event.
