WALTHAM, Mass. – The Cabrini volleyball team scored a pair of wins today at Brandeis University to open the MIT Invitational. The Cavaliers topped the host Judges 3-1 before downing Wellesley College 3-0, to improve to 5-2 on the season.
In the opener, the Blue and White took the opening set 25-18 before Brandeis evened the match with a 25-20 second set victory. The Cavaliers dominated the third and fourth frames by 25-10 and 25-13 margins.
Senior
Cassidy Koenig paced the Cavaliers with a double-souble of 28 assists and 16 digs. Sophomore
Anne-Marie Jones recorded a match-high nine kills, two more than classmate
Nicole Sokolovich.
Freshman
Ashley Shannon joined Sokolovich with 10 digs, while senior
Christine Ingargiola and sophomore
Chelsea Jones posted three blocks each.
The Blue and White continued its solid play in the nightcap, as it swept Wellesley 25-18, 25-16, 25-22.
Cabrini got tremendous balance in the victory, as five Cavaliers notched seven or eight kills. Sokolovich,

Jen Grenauer recorded eight kills, one more than Ingargiola and
Chelsea Jones.
Koenig tallied 33 assists, while Sokolovich and Guarino combined for 25 digs.
The Cavaliers will head to MIT's campus in Boston for Saturday's two matches. Cabrini will face Springfield College (6-1) at 11 a.m. and Bates College (0-2) at 1 p.m.
