BOSTON, Mass. – The Cabrini volleyball team split its two matches today at the final day of the MIT Invitational in Boston. The Cavaliers suffered a 3-1 loss to Springfield College in the opener before scoring a 3-1 victory over Bates College.
After taking three of its four matches in Massachusetts, the Blue and White stand at 6-3 on the season.
Senior
Jen Grenauer led Cabrini in the 25-21, 25-18, 26-28, 25-19 loss to Springfield. The senior posted 13 kills, five more than sophomore
Nicole Sokolovich. Senior setter
Cassidy Koenig paired 32 assists and 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.
Junior
Kelly Guarino earned match-high honors with 17 digs, one more than Sokolovich.
The Cavaliers rallied in their 25-23, 16-25, 25-18, 25-13 victory over Bates. Cabrini dominated at the net, recording 50 kills in the win. Senior
Christine Ingargiola recorded her third career high of the season, with 18 kills.
Sokolovich tallied her third double-double of the campaign, pairing 11 kills and 11 digs. Grenauer added 10 kills and a career high five blocks in the win. Koenig directed the offense to the tune of 47 assists.
Ingargiola was named to the MIT Invitational All-Tournament Team after totaling 32 kill and five total blocks on the weekend.
The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House on Tuesday, as they open Colonial States Athletic Conference play with a visit from Cairn University (0-5). First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
