ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – The Cabrini volleyball team suffered a pair of 3-0 losses today at the Days Inn Blue Jay Classic at Elizabethtown College. The Cavaliers' losses to the host Blue Jays and the University of Rochester dropped the Blue and White to 8-5 on the season.
The Cavaliers recorded a season-low 0.98 hitting percentage in the 25-18, 25-20, 25-19 loss to Elizabethtown. Seniors
Jen Grenauer and
Christine Ingargiola led the Blue and White with eight kills each.
Fellow senior
Cassidy Koenig paired 22 assists with a couple of service aces. Freshman
Ashley Shannon scored 14 digs, four more than sophomore
Nicole Sokolovich.
Cabrini couldn't turn around its momentum in the nightcap, as it dropped its second match of the day to the University of Rochester 25-16, 25-19, 25-17.
Sokolovich totaled nine kills, while sophomore
Chelsea Jones added five. Jones also notched a team-high seven digs, one more than Sokolovich and Grenauer. Shannon recorded 19 assists in the loss.
The Cavaliers will regroup over the next few days before opening Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Thursday, when they head to Neumann University for a rematch of the last four CSAC championships. First serve is scheduled for 7 p.m.
