Field Hockey Downed by the Ducks

HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Cabrini field hockey team has now alternated wins and losses over its last five contests, after suffering a 4-0 loss today at Stevens Institute of Technology.  The defeat dropped the Cavaliers to 2-4 on the season.

The Blue and White outshot the Ducks 12-9, including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal, but Stevens made the most out of its attempts.

After a scoreless opening 30 minutes, Stevens opened the scoring in the 32nd minute.  Despite recording just two first half shots, the Ducks carried their lead into the halftime break.

Stevens sealed the victory with three goals in a 15 minute span of the second half.

Kerry Anne Farrell led Cabrini with five shots, including three on goal, while sophomores Sara DeVita and Jackie Neary added two each.

Victoria Alvarez paired a goal and two assists for Stevens (5-2), while goaltender Emily Stukenborg recorded six saves.

After opening the season with six consecutive games on the road, Cabrini will open its home slate on Monday, as it hosts Rowan University (3-3) at 6:30 p.m.
