RADNOR, Pa. – After a tightly contested opening 35 minutes, the Cabrini field hockey team saw its home opener spoiled, as Rowan scored a 2-0 victory at Edith Robb Dixon Field. The loss drops the Cavaliers to 2-5 on the season.
Statistically, tonight's game was a tale of two halves, each controlled by a different team. The Blue and White built an 8-2 advantage in first half shots and earned nine penalty corners to just three for the Profs.
The Cavaliers created several solid scoring chances, including a penalty corner as the first half clock expired, but Cabrini failed to find the back of the net.
Rowan gained the momentum early in the second half, as junior Jenna Pressler opened the scoring just three minutes into the stanza. The Profs kept the Cavaliers under pressure, gaining a 7-3 advantage in second half shots and earning nine penalty corners.
While the Blue and White tried to find the correct scoring combination, Rowan took advantage of another scoring chance in the 63rd minute. Freshman Rachel Galante corralled a loose ball and put it away for a 2-0 lead.
Senior
Kerry Anne Farrell led Cabrini with four shots on the night, one more than junior
Kylie McDevitt. Sophomore goaltender
Taylor Bookman notched four saves in the loss.
The Blue and White has little time to regroup, as it returns to action on Wednesday, when Moravian College (4-5) visits Edith Robb Dixon Field. Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
