LANGHORNE, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team returned to the win column tonight, as it scored matching 3-0 victories over Cedar Crest College and Cairn University tonight. Cairn hosted both matches at its Mason Activity Center in Langhorne, PA.
The wins improved the Cavaliers to 9-12 overall, while extending their Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak to 44 matches, including seven this season.
The Blue and White was focused from the minute it stepped onto the court, as it topped Cedar Crest 25-2, 25-14, 25-12 in the first match of the day.
Junior
Chelsea Jones led Cabrini with seven kills in the win, one more than classmate
Anne-Marie Jones, while sophomores
Emily Shannon and
Kassie Ockford notched five kills each.
Freshman
Emily Stokarski added a career high six service aces to her 22 assists. Shannon added five aces and five digs to her stat line.
Senior
Kelly Guarino recorded a match high 11 digs in the win, while sophomore
Ashley Shannon scored eight digs.
Cabrini showed no letdown as it faced the host Highlanders in the nightcap, earning a 25-10, 25-9, 25-6 victory.
The Cavaliers posted a season high .438 hitting percentage, as five players recorded at least six kills.
Anne-Marie Jones led the team with 10, while Guarino and
Chelsea Jones added seven each.
Emily Shannon and Ockford added six kills each.
Stokarski paired 31assists with five service aces, one more than
Chelsea Jones.
Ashley Shannon recorded a team high 11 digs, While Guarino notched seven and Stokarski six.
The Blue and White will step out of conference play on Friday, as it welcomes Widener University (10-13, 2-2 MAC Commonwealth) to Nerney Field House. First serve is slated for 7pm.
