RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball cruised to its fourth consecutive victory tonight, topping Notre Dame of Maryland 3-0. With the win, the Cavaliers extended their Colonial States Athletic Conference win streak to 45 match, while improving to 11-12 overall and 8-0 in the conference.
The Blue and White posted an attack percentage of .287, its fourth highest of the season, against a Gator team that led the nation with a .012 opponent's hitting percentage.
Senior
Kelly Guarino and junior
Anne-Marie Jones led the Cabrini attack with 11 kills each, while junior
Kaylee Plisinski added six kills.
Sophomore
Ashley Shannon recorded a match high 18 digs, while Guarino added 13 digs to her stat line to complete her eighth double-double of the season.
Freshman
Emily Stokarski narrowly missed a double-double, pairing 30 assists and nine digs in the win.
The Cavaliers used a 5-0 spurt early in the opening set to take control of the action. Minutes later a 12-3 run seemingly blew the frame open, as Cabrini extended its lead to 22-11. The Blue and White struggled to close the set, allowing the Gators to mount a small comeback before a Notre Dame service error ended the set 25-17.
Head coach Eric Scheafer used the break between the first and second sets to refocus the Cavaliers and it showed as they took the floor for the second set.
Cabrini ran out to a 7-2 lead and never looked back. The Blue and White used a pair of 5-0 runs before recording the final six points of the frame for the 25-7 victory.
The Cavaliers continued their momentum into the third set, building a 14-3 lead Notre Dame never came within seven points, as Cabrini cruised to a 25-13 third set win.
Senior Cassidy Keller led the Gators (12-7, 3-4 CSAC) with eight kills, while classmate Cleaya Antes added 14 digs. Junior Jamie Reyes paired 17 assists and eight digs in the loss.
Cabrini will look to continue its win streak on Thursday, as it visits Gwynedd Mercy (9-14, 4-5 CSAC). First serve is scheduled for 7pm in Gwynedd Valley, PA.
