SELINSGROVE, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team saw its five match win streak come to an end today, as it dropped a pair of matches at the Susquehanna University tri-match. The Cavaliers suffered a 3-1 loss to the Coast Guard Academy before falling to the host River Hawks 3-0.
The non-conference losses dropped the Blue and White to 12-14 on the year.
A trio of Cavaliers recorded double-figure kills in the 18-25, 26-24, 25-20, 25-23 loss to Coast Guard. Junior
Anne-Marie Jones led the way with 12 kills, while senior
Kelly Guarino and junior
Kaylee Plisinski added 11 each.
Guarino added 13 digs and three service aces, while sophomore
Ashley Shannon earned match high honors with 15 digs. Freshman
Emily Stokarski notched 38 assists, while junior
Chelsea Jones matched a career best five total blocks.
The Blue and White faced a tough task in Susquehanna, who brought an eight match win streak into the match. Cabrini could not change its fortunes, as it fell 25-14, 25-17, 25-23.
Anne-Marie Jones led the Cavaliers with 10 kills, three more than Guarino. Stokarski narrowly missed a double-double, pairing 14 assists and nine digs.
Guarino added a team high 10 digs, while
Ashley Shannon added eight and freshman Alexandria Schnell.
The Cavaliers will return to Colonial States Athletic Conference play on Wednesday, as it hosts Clarks Summit University (10-16, 5-5 CSAC) for Senior Night. First serve is slated for 7pm at Nerney Field House.
