DOYLESTOWN, Pa. - The Cabrini softball team improved to 2-5 on the season after today's 2-0 win at Delaware Valley. The teams were scheduled to play a second game but it was called off due to unfortunate weather.

The Cavaliers opened the scoring in the fourth inning, with one run on a pair of hits. Freshman Marissa Alpaugh reached first on a fielder's choice and advanced to second following sophomore Jess Giordano's single to left field. Junior Taylor Gallagher reached on an error to load the bases.

A batter later, Alpaugh crossed home plate, after sophomore Sarah Beckner reached first base on a wild pitch strike out. The Blue and White stranded three runners on the base paths, as a fielder's choice and a strike out ended the inning.

With two outs in the top of the fifth inning, senior Kaitlyn Cooper reached first base on a walk. Cooper advanced to second base after Alpaugh's infield single to third. Giordano stepped into the box and doubled to center field, plating Cooper. A pop up the following at bat ended the top half.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, Giordano pitched out of a jam to secure the win for the Blue and White. With one out and runners on second and third, Giordano recorded a strike out and a ground out to hold off the Aggies.

Mother Nature took over the rest of the way, as the game was called after six innings of play.

Five Cavaliers notched at least one hit in the win, while Alpaugh and Giordano led the Blue and White with a pair. Giordano and Cooper each recorded an RBI.

Giordano earned her first win in the circle, after throwing six innings. The sophomore struck out three Aggies, allowed four hits and walked two batters.

The Blue and White will open its home schedule on Saturday, when it hosts Immaculata (1-7) in a conference doubleheader at Cabrini Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
