RADNOR, Pa. – For the second consecutive week, the Cabrini men's lacrosse team needed extra time, in fact every second of overtime to secure an exciting, hard fought victory over Dickinson College today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

Freshman Matt LoParo rounded the crease and stuffed the ball into the Dickinson net with 0.6 seconds to play to give No. 11 Cabrini a 12-11 win over the Red Devils.  The rookie sent the Blue and White to a 3-0 record, while handing Dickinson its first loss in four outings.

Junior Evan Downey posted his second consecutive four point outing, pairing three goals and an assist.  Sophomore James Magnani also recorded a hat trick, while senior Ethan Heisman netted two goals.  

LoParo finished the day with three points, adding a pair of goals to his game winning goal, while fellow freshman Jordan Krug tallied a goal and a helper.

Sophomore goaltender Tyler Morrell earned the victory, after making 11 saves including a game saving stop with 13 seconds to play in regulation.   

Senior Chris Schneekloth went 12-21 at the faceoff spot, securing four ground balls.  Junior Steve Halko secured a game high five ground balls, one more than senior Dan Hopson.  

The Blue and White also forced 13 of Dickinson's 18 turnovers on the day.  Sophomore Joey Hoey forced a career high four turnovers, while senior Brian Kittredge caused a trio of miscues.

Dickinson was on fire from the opening whistle, taking the opening faceoff and scoring in the game's first seven seconds.  Before the Cavaliers knew what hit them, they were trailing 3-0 just 2:01 in to the game.

A three minute, non-releasable equipment penalty on Dickinson allowed the Blue and White to find its footing.  LoParo found freshman Timmy Brooks at the 12:01 mark before Krug connected with Magnani with 10:14 left in the quarter to pull Cabrini to within 3-2.

The Red Devils regained their three goal cushion early in the second quarter before the Cavaliers rallied.  Downey and Magnani combined for three goals in a span of 1:44 to even the score at 5-5.   

Cabrini took its first lead of the game midway through the second quarter, as freshman Sean Wagner hit sophomore Ben Junior in front of the crease for his first career goal and a 6-5 lead.

Dickinson evened the score 30 seconds later, but Heisman and Downey notched unassisted goals to give the Blue and White an 8-6 lead.  The Red Devils added a late goal before Krug found the back of the net with just two seconds left in the quarter, sending Cabrini into the half with a 9-7 lead.

After 16 first half goals, including 10 in the second quarter alone, the defenses took over in the third quarter.  Heisman's unassisted goal marked the Blue and White's only score of the frame, while the Cavaliers held the Red Devils to one goal in the period, sending the game to the final period with the Blue and White maintaining its two goal cushion.

Dickinson continued its scoring run into the fourth quarter, evening the score at 10-10 with 10:10 to play. Less than a minute later, Downey put the Cavaliers ahead with his third goal of the afternoon.  The Red Devils fought back, recording the game's fourth deadlock with eight minutes to play.

Both teams created late scoring chances.  The Blue and White fired six shots and came up short on a pair of extra-man situations.  Dickinson created the final scoring opportunities of regulation, as it held the ball for the final 70 seconds.  After a Red Devils' time out, Dickinson freshman John Lockwood's bid for the game winning goal was thwarted by a sprawling Morrell, sending the game to overtime.

Both teams had possessions in the extra time.  Downey fired the first attempt, which was saved by Dickinson's senior netminder Nick Baxter.  The Red Devils help possession for nearly two minutes, but managed just one shot that went wide.

After a loose ball scrum, a Dickinson foul gave the Cavaliers the ball with just 27 seconds to play.  The ball found LoParo's stick with just 10 seconds to play.  With the crowd and his teammates urging him to make a play, the rookie bolted around the back of the crease, beating Baxter for the game winning goal.

Senior Chris Menard led Dickinson (3-1) with five goals, five ground balls and two caused turnovers.  Sophomore Dylan Maher added three goals and three ground balls, while junior Tyler Llewellyn paired a goal and two helpers.  Baxter finished the day with 14 saves and five ground balls.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, as they welcome the Hampden-Sydney College Tigers (4-2) to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  Game time is slated for 4 p.m.
