RADNOR, PA – Cabrini and Haverford took advantage of every minute of tonight's game at Edith Robb Dixon Field, but after 70 minutes, the Cavaliers found themselves on the short side of a 3-2 loss in the season-opener for both teams.
The Fords jumped ahead in the 13th minute, but six minutes later, junior
Maddy Worley put the Blue and White on the scoreboard, redirecting a pass from classmate
Megan McLoughlin. Haverford regained its one goal cushion in the 29th minute and carried its slim lead into the halftime break.
Cabrini saw its deficit swell to 3-1 in the 41st minute, but the Cavaliers remained determined. Senior
Kylie McDevitt hit classmate
Taylor Mack with 12 minutes to play, bring the Blue and White back to within one goal. The Cavaliers couldn't find the right connection to notch a game-tying goal.
Haverford outshot the Cavaliers 12-10, with junior
Jackie Neary leading the Blue and White with three shots, all on target, while Mack added two attempts.
Despite the loss, Cabrini forced 15 penalty corners.
Junior goaltender
Taylor Bookman suffered the loss, despite recording five saves. Freshman
Katie Kucia also added a defensive save.
The Blue and White will hit the road this weekend, as they travel to Madison, NJ for the Drew University Fall Festival. The Cavaliers will face No. 1o Montclair State on Saturday and the host Rangers on Sunday.
