RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team posted its third consecutive victory today, as it kicked off the Homecoming festivities with a 3-1 victory over Rowan University. The 25-17, 28-30, 25-18, 25-19 win improved the Cavaliers to 3-8, while the Profs fell to 3-10.
Senior
Kelly Guarino, sophomore
Ashley Shannon and freshman
Emily Stokarski led the Blue and White to victory. Guarino paired a career high 16 kills with 13 digs, while Shannon posted a career best 17 digs to go with 11 kills.
Stokarski directed the offensive attack to the tune of her first career 50 assists performance.
Sophomore
Ashley Shannon notched 19 digs, while freshman
Alexandra Schell recorded a season high 10 digs. Junior
Anne-Marie Jones added 13 kills, as classmate
Kaylee Plisinski tallied a career best 10 kills.
The Blue and White jumped to an early lead in the opening set before Rowan battled back. With the score tied at 7-7, the Cavaliers five consecutive points, which proved to be the cushion they needed. The lead grew as large as eight but the Profs never pulled within five points.
The second frame was a tight affair that featured 18 ties. Only twice during the set did either team record three consecutive points. Unfortunately for Cabrini, Rowan managed the final run of the set. An
Anne-Marie Jones Kill gave Cabrini a 28-27 lead but the Profs responded with the final three points of the frame.
The early minutes of the third set were a replay of the second, but with the score tied at 15,
Emily Shannon's kill sparked the Cavaliers to a 4-0 run. The Blue and White never relinquished the cushion, scoring the set's final four points.
Rowan jumped to a commanding 6-0 lead in the fourth set. Cabrini was struggling to find its rhythm before an 8-1 run gave the Blue and White a 13-11 lead, one the Cavaliers would not relinquish.
The Cavaliers will hit the road on Tuesday, as they travel to Bethlehem, PA to face Moravian College (8-6). First serve is slated for 7pm.
