Worley Leads Field Hockey to 6-2 Homecoming Win in CSAC Opener

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team opened Colonial States Athletic Conference play with today's convincing 6-2 victory over Neumann University at Edith Robb Dixon Field.  With the win, the Cavaliers improved to 4-5 overall.

The Blue and White dominated the stat sheet, outshooting the Knights 36-13, including a 25-2 advantage in the opening 35 minutes.  Cabrini also earned 10 first half penalty corners and 16 on the day, while holding Neumann to seven.

Cabrini didn't waste any time taking control of the scoreboard, as junior Maddy Worley scored the first of her career high four goals in the fourth minute, after converting a pass from senior Kylie McDevitt.

The junior returned to the scoresheet in the 18th minute, after receiving a pass from senior Taylor Mack, marking three first of the senior's three assists.

The Cavaliers carried their 2-0 lead into the half before a flurry of second half goals.

Neumann got on the board in the 44th minute, but the Blue and White responded just two minutes later, as Mack found McDevitt on a penalty corner.  Two minutes later, Worley collected the rebound after a shot from junior Sara Devita.

Neumann again cut into Cabrini's lead before Worley posted her fourth goal in the 60th minute, converting a cross from junior Jackie Neary. Neary closed the scoring in the 66th frame, as Mack found her on a penalty corner.

Neary led the Blue and White with 11 shots, one more that Mack.  Junior goaltender Taylor Bookman earned the victory with seven saves in the Cabrini cage.

The Cavaliers have a few days to recover before hosting Gwynedd Mercy (4-3) next Saturday.  Game time is slated for 12pm at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
