GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team suffered its first Colonial States Athletic Conference loss of the season tonight, as the Cavaliers fell to Gwynedd Mercy 5-0.
The loss dropped the Blue and White to 4-7 on the season and 2-1 in the conference, while the Griffins improved to 10-3 overall and 3-0 in league play.
Despite being outshot 8-2 in the opening 35 minutes of action, the Cabrini defense held firm, as the score remained scoreless at the half.
The Griffins figured out the Cavaliers in the second half, opening the scoring in the 49th minute, as Brianna O'Connell scored the first of her three second half goals.
O'Connell added goals in the 51st and 54th minutes, as Gwynedd Mercy took a commanding 3-0 lead with 16 minutes to play. Melissa Russo added a pair of goals in the final five minutes of play for the Griffins.
The Cavaliers never found their offensive rhythm tonight, as the Blue and White recorded just four shots, with only two on goal. Senior

The Cavaliers have a few days to regroup before returning to action on Saturday, as they visit Neumann (2-9, 1-2 CSAC). The opening whistle is scheduled for 11am in Aston, PA.
