RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team continued its run through the Colonial States Athletic Conference tonight, as the Cavaliers scored a 3-0 victory over the Gwynedd Mercy Griffins at Nerney Field House.
The 25-11, 25-7, 25-12 victory improved the Blue and White to 22-4 overall and 8-0 in the conference, while extending its CSAC win streak to 56 matches.
The highlight of the night's action came late in the final set, as senior
Anne-Marie Jones scored her 1,000th career kill, making her the fifth Cavalier in program history to achieve the milestone.
Ten of the 12 Cavaliers who saw action tonight recorded a kill, with five tallying at least four. Freshman
Steph Judkins led the way with eight kills, two more than Jones and freshman
Lauren Coscia.
Junior
Ashley Shannon earned team-high honors with 12 digs, while sister
Emily Shannon added 10. Freshman
Morgan Collito notched eight digs, while classmate
Olivia Blankenbiller scored 29 assists.
The Blue and White also recorded 11 service aces for the second consecutive match.
Emily Shannon notched three, as eight Cavaliers recorded at least one ace.
Junior Cassie McCarney joined sophomores Kerry McGlinn and Liz Schule with three kills each for the Griffins (9-18, 3-7 CSAC). Freshman Cait Saalfrank posted a match-high 18 digs.
The Blue and White will step out of conference play this weekend, as it heads to Pittsburgh for the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
The Cavaliers will face Denison University (11-9, 4-3 NCAC) on Friday at 6pm, before meeting the host and No. 6 ranked Tartans (22-1, 6-1 UAA) at 1pm and DeSales University (17-7, 6-0 MAC Freedom) at 3pm.
