Radnor, PA - The Cavaliers tallied a season high eight goals in this afternoon's victory over Notre Dame of Maryland University. With the win, the Cavs record improves to 7-8 overall and more importantly 5-2 in the CSAC, which secures the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Colonial States Athletic Conference tournament.
In addition to their season high eight goals, the Cavs also secured season high marks in penalty corners (20) and tied their season high marks in assists (5), shots (29), and shots on goal (24).
Senior
Alexandra Swallow led the Blue and White with five shots, all coming on goal, while also securing two goals. Freshman
Gabby Thompson also netted two goals, while classmate
Maggie Nolen and seniors
Sara DeVita,
Ryan Taylor and
Alexia Paglia rounded out the scoring with one goal each.
The Blue and White owned the first half of play as they kept possession in their offensive zone early and often. DeVita opened up the scoring for the Cavs in the 15th minute off an assist from senior
Jackie Neary. Cabrini struck twice more in a span of three minutes to extend the lead to 3-0 less than 20 minutes into the game.
Taylor and Thompson tacked on two more goals in the 27th and 28th minute, respectively to give the Cavs a comfortable 5-0 cushion. Senior
Maddy Worley picked up the helper on the aforementioned goal by Thompson.
Paglia tacked on a quick unassisted goal coming out of the intermission in the 51st minute to make it an even 6-0 score. Nolen and Thompson would cap the scoring for the home team as the Cavs rode the 8-0 lead to the final.
The defense for the Blue and White was equally as impressive as the offense as they held the Gators to just one shot.
As mentioned, the Cavaliers secured the No. 2 seed in the upcoming CSAC tournament with today's win and will square off with Marywood University next Wednesday, Nov.1st. A game time for the CSAC Quarterfinal has yet to be determined.
Cabrini will next face Alvernia on Friday, Oct. 28th, however as they recognize the teams 13 seniors and their contributions. Game time is slated for noon.
