11 Cavaliers Record a Point in Men's Lacrosse Win at Centenary

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team extended its NCAA record conference win streak to 104 games today, as it scored a 20-4 victory at Centenary University. 

The No. 14 Cavaliers improved to 7-3 overall and 3-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with the win.

After opening with a 3-0 lead, the Blue and White ran off a string of 14 unanswered goals, spanning the second, third and fourth quarters. Cabrini held the Cyclones scoreless for north of 36 minutes, including outscoring Centenary 10-0 in the second quarter.

Cabrini outshot the Cyclones 39-24, including 29-6 in the opening 30 minutes. The Cavaliers also won 20 of the day's 26 faceoffs and scooped 45 ground balls to 28 for Centenary.

Senior Evan Downey paired four goals, two assists and four ground balls for a Blue and White club that saw 11 players record at least one point. Freshman Tyler Kostack added three goals and two helpers in the win.

Fellow rookie Drew Hanna matched Kostack's three goals.  Junior Ethan Trusty and sophomores Jordan Krug and Bill Morgan added three points each.

Junior Riley Michaels went 11-12 at the faceoff spot and scooped six ground balls. Freshman Bobby Cressman went 3-4 at the x and matched Michaels with six ground balls, while sophomore Trey Critides secured four loose balls and won six of10 faceoffs.

Cressman also caused a game high three turnovers, one more than freshman R.J. Wolf.

All three of the Cavaliers' goaltenders saw action in today's win. Freshman Matt Nestler recorded three saves to earn the win, while sophomore Riley Michaels and freshman Parker Ross combined for six second half saves.

Michael Muff scored four goals for the Cyclones (4-4, 1-2 CSAC), while Luke Tremont secured five ground balls. Chris Cameron recorded five first half saves in the loss.

Cabrini will return to action on Wednesday, when it visits Aston, PA to face Neumann University (5-6, 2-1 CSAC). The opening faceoff is slated for 4pm.
