Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Field Hockey Falls to Rowan 3-1

RADNOR, PA – Cabrini and Rowan combined for just 12 shots in tonight's field hockey contest, but the Profs netted a pair of second half goals to send the Cavaliers to a 3-1 defeat at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

The loss dropped the Blue and White to 1-4 on the season, while Rowan improved to 2-3.

The Profs grabbed an early lead on Nikki Kotelnicki's seventh minute goal, but the Cavaliers responded in the 15th minute. Senior Jackie Neary forced a penalty just outside the scoring area and took advantage of the quick restart to notch her second goal of the season.

Despite outshooting Rowan 6-2 in the opening 35 minutes, the Blue and White recorded just one goal, as the game went to the halftime break knotted at 1-1.

Both teams looked to gain an advantage on the scoreboard in the opening minutes of the second half, but it was the Profs the took advantage of their chances. Bridget Boyle put Rowan ahead in the 47th minute, before Rowan sealed the win with a penalty stroke goal in the 61st frame.

While Cabrini claimed a slim 7-5 advantage in shots, the Profs forced 13 penalty corners to just five for the Cavaliers.

Neary accounted for four of the Blue and White's shots, two more than classmate Alexandra Swallow. Senior goaltender Taylor Bookman added a pair of saves in the loss.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Saturday, as No. 3 Salisbury pays a visit to Edith Robb Dixon Field.  The opening whistle is scheduled for 12 noon.
