SCRANTON, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team posted its third consecutive victory today, as the Cavaliers scored a 4-0 victory at Marywood University.
With the win, the Blue and White improve to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference.
Cabrini took control of the action in the early minutes, as it recorded three goals in a four minute span.
Senior
Maddy Worley opened the scoring in the ninth minute, as she redirected a crossing pass into the net.
The Cavaliers added to their lead in the 12th minute, as senior
Brittany Smith's penalty corner service found classmate
Sara Johnsen for her second goal of the season.
The team's third goal came just 62 seconds later, as Worley scored her second goal of the day, punching the ball into the net after a scramble in front of the cage.
Cabrini extended its lead in the opening minutes of the second half, as sophomore
Katie Kucia found senior
Jackie Neary who chipped the ball into the net.
The Blue and White recorded 18 shots in scoring a season-high four goals. Neary led the way with five shots, one more than Johnsen and two more than Worley and fellow senior
Alexandra Swallow.
The Cabrini defensive effort held the Pacers to just three shots, while senior goaltender
Taylor Bookman posted two saves to secure her 11h career shutout.
Kerri Mountz led Marywood (1-8, 0-1 CSAC) with 12 saves, while Liz Ferg recorded two of the Pacers' three shots.
Cabrini will step out of CSAC play next weekend, as it will face Endicott College (9-2) for the first time. Game time is scheduled for 1pm in Beverly, MA on Saturday.
