RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini volleyball team seized control of the action in the early minutes of tonight's match and never allowed the Gwynedd Mercy University Griffins to find any rhythm, as the Cavaliers cruised to a 3-0 win tonight at Nerney Field House.
The Blue and White's 25-11, 25-8, 25-12 victory improved the team wo 16-7 overall and 4-0 in the Atlantic East Conference.
Cabrini posted a season-high hitting percentage of .365, as it scored 41 kills against a season-low six attack errors. The team's 12 service aces also marked a season-high.
Sophomore
Steph Judkins paced the Cavaliers' attack with 14 kills, while junior
Katrina Shelly added 10 kills.
Senior
Emily Shannon narrowly missed a double-double, pairing nine assists with 13 digs, while classmate
Ashley Shannon tallied seven assists and 13 digs.
Freshman
Amelia Ballard recorded a match-high 14 assists.
Emily Shannon also led the team with three aces, one more than
Ashley Shannon, Judkins and freshmen
Hannah Dalton and
Gina Custer.
Junior Kerry McGlinn led the Griffins (10-9, 0-3 Atlantic East) with four kills, while freshman Bridget McTamney paired 10 assists and 10 digs. Sophomore Cait Saalfrank scored 15 digs in the loss.
The Cavaliers will head south on Saturday, as they make the trip to Owings Mills, MD for a tri-match at Stevenson University. The Blue and White will face the host Mustangs (13-11, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) at 1pm and Kean University (15-9, 5-1 NJAC) at 3pm.
