Volleyball Splits 2 Matches at Stevenson Tri

OWINGS MILLS, MD – The Cabrini volleyball team split a pair of matches today at Stevenson University. The Cavaliers suffered a 3-0 loss to the host Mustangs before rallying to top Kean University 3-1.

The Blue and White move to 17-8 with the results of today's nonconference matches.

Just a few points separated the Cavaliers from Stevenson in the opener, as Cabrini fell 26-24, 28-26, 25-19.

Sophomore Steph Judkins and senior Emily Shannon notched the first of their two double-doubles in the opener. Judkins paired a match-high 11 kills with 11 digs, while Shannon fell just one kill shy of a triple-double with nine kills, 14 assists and a season-high 20 digs.

Junior Katrina Shelly added 10 kills, while freshman Amelia Ballard notched 15 assists and seven digs. Senior Ashley Shannon chipped in with 13 digs and six assists.

Judkins also joined Emily Shannon and freshman Hannah Dalton with two blocks each.

Four players recorded at least eight kills for the Mustangs (14-11), led by Katie Leftridge, who paired 11 kills and 17 digs.

The Cavaliers rallied in their nightcap, scoring a 25-19, 19-25, 25-19, 25-16 victory over Kean.

Judkins paired 19 kills and 13 digs for her 12th double-double, while Emily Shannon's 14th double dip included 23 assists and 17 digs.

Shelly added 13 kills to the offensive effort, with Dalton chipping in with seven kills.  Ballard narrowly missed a double-double with 20 assists, nine digs and a pair of service aces.

Ashley Shannon scored match-high honors with 19 digs.  

Cailyn Ross, Vikki Stec and Zoe Strozewski posted 10 kills each for Kean (15-10).

The Cavaliers will return to Nerney Field House and Atlantic East play on Tuesday, when they host Immaculata (3-12, 0-3 Atlantic East). First serve is scheduled for 7pm.
