SCRANTON, PA – The Cavaliers' offensive struggles continued today, as the Cabrini field hockey team suffered a 2-1 loss at Marywood University.  The Blue and White's fifth consecutive loss dropped the team to 3-10 overall and 0-4 in the Atlantic East Conference.

The Pacers grabbed the lead just 91 seconds after the opening whistle, as Angela Sanchez converted a rebound off a save by Cabrini's junior goaltender Devon Scharf.

Despite being outshot 8-2 in the first half and defending eight first half penalty corners, the Cabrini defense stood firm. Scharf recorded six of her 14 saves in the first half, as the Blue and White trailed just 1-0 at the half.

The Cabrini defensive until remained on its heels in the second half, as the Pacers reeled off 17 shots and 12 penalty corners in the second stanza.

Led by Scharf's nine second half saves, the Cavaliers kept the game within striking distance.

A 69th minute penalty stroke goal by Marywood's Kenzie Drew gave the Pacers the cushion they needed to seal the win.

The Cavaliers, however, played until the final whistle, as freshman Allison Martin hit sophomore Gabby Thompson in the game's final minute to put the Blue and White on the score board.

Thompson recorded two shots for the Cavaliers, while four others tallied one shot each. Scharf finished the day with 14 saves, one off her career high.

Drew led the Pacers (10-5, 3-2 Atlantic East) with nine shots and a goal m while Jenna Dickey and Sara Sternak added five shots each. Kerri Mountz earned the victory in the Marywood cage with three saves.
