RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team saw its two game in streak come to an end today, as the Cavaliers opened Atlantic East Conference action with a 3-1 loss to Neumann today at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The loss dropped the Blue and White to 3-6 on the season and marked the team's first loss to the Knights since 2009 and its first home loss in the series since the 2008 CSAC championship game.
Neumann gained an early lead, as  sophomore Bri Lagroteria redirected a shot from classmate Sam Picker in the Cabrini net. The Knights carried their one goal advantage into the second half, but junior Chelsea Kulesza doubled the Blue and White deficit in the 49th minute when her shot bounced off a Cabrini stick.
The Cavaliers cut into the Neumann lead in the 55th minute, as junior
Katie Kucia's pass found classmate
Katie Heck on the right side of the cage for her first career tally.
Neumann regained its two goal advantage less than two minutes later, as senior Colleen Hoy sealed the win with a shot that found a crease between Cabrini goaltender
Devon Scharf and the post.
Both team forced nine penalty corners, but the Knights built a 16-8 advantage in shots, including a 9-3 cushion in the second half.
Kucia joined sophomores
Trisha Billig and
Gabby Thompson with two shots each, while Scharf finished the day with five saves.
