No. 6 Men's Lacrosse Rolls to 24-8 Win over Neunmann

RADNOR, PA –Thirteen Cavaliers marked the scoring column today, as the Cabrini men's lacrosse team rolled to a 24-8 win over Neumann University at Edith Robb Dixon Field.

The No. 6 Cavaliers improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the Colonial States Athletic Conference with its 110th consecutive conference victory.

Junior Jordan Krug paces the Blue and White attack with a season-high eight points and a career best five assists. Sophomore Matt LoParo paired two goals and four helpers, while freshman Griffin Shira netted four goals to go with an assist.

Juniors Timmy Brooks and Nicholas Waliguski joined Krug with three goals, while sophomore Kevin Leyden joined LoParo with two goals. Freshman Nick Werner scored his first collegiate goal to lead a group of seven Cavaliers with one goal each.

Krug, junior Cassius Christie and sophomore Tommy DeLuca recorded two caused turnovers each, while freshman Kyle Tucker scooped five ground balls, one more than DeLuca.

Junior goaltender Riley White recorded two first half saves to secure the victory, before Christie, sophomore Matt Nestler and freshman Leo Godefroy manned the Blue and White cage in the second half.

Krug put the Cavaliers ahead in the game's early minute, finding LoParo to double the lead at the 10:37 mark. The Knights answered 19 seconds later, but Brooks' first goal of the afternoon sparked a 4-0 spurt for the Cavaliers.

Over the next 5:32, goals by Brooks, Waligurski and Leyden pushed the Cabrini lead to 6-1.

Neumann briefly interrupted the Cabrini scoring run, but the Cavaliers closed the half with two goals, including a Waliguski goal with five seconds left in the period that gave the Blue and White an 8-2 after 15 minutes.

Both teams exchanged goals in the early minutes of the second quarter, but the Cavaliers put the game away in the final 7:05 of the second quarter with seven consecutive goals.

Seven difference Cavaliers marked the scoring column during the run, as Cabrini pushed its lead to 17-4 at the half.

The Blue and White outshot Neumann 62-31 on the day, including 37-11 in the first and second quarters. Brooks accounted for a game-high 12 shots, with LoParo recording seven and Shira six.

Freshman Eric Conlon led the Knight (1-8, 0-1 CSAC) with five goals, while senior Adam Fagan notched three assists. Freshman Jack Newswanger went 15-25 at the faceoff spot, while senior goaltender Antonio Gibson tallied 15 saves.

The Cavaliers will return to action on Wednesday, as they pay a visit to Rosemont College (0-8, 0-2 CSAC). The opening faceoff is slated for 4pm in Rosemont, PA.
