GWYNEDD VALLEY, PA – The Cabrini men's lacrosse team took sole possession of first place in the Colonial States Athletic Conference tonight, as the No. 8 Cavaliers topped Gwynedd Mercy 16-6.
With the win, the Blue and White improve to 12-2 overall and 5-0 in the conference, while handing the Griffins their first conference loss of the campaign.
Junior
Jordan Krug paced the Cabrini offense with six goals and an assist. With today's production, Krug moved into fifth place on the program's all-time goals list with 140.
Sophomores
Jake Klein and
Matt LoParo added three goals each, and both joined classmate
Ty Kostack with two goals.
Senior
Riley Michaels sparked the Cavaliers at the faceoff spot, when the senior went 12-17 with a game-high eight ground balls. Freshman
Nick Werner scooped three ground balls, one more than Krug, senior
Joey Hoey and sophomore
Tommy DeLuca.

Riley White earned the victory, recording five saves, while senior
Josh Moore accounted for two of Cabrini's seven caused turnovers in the win.
LoParo gave Cabrini an early lead, but GMercyU responded with back to back goals to take a 2-1 lead with 6:25 left in the first quarter.
The Cavaliers then took control of the game, scoring five goals over the next four minutes. A late GMercyU goal cut the Blue and White lead to 6-3 after 15 minutes of play.
Despite being outshot 9-8 in the second quarter, Cabrini scored the only three goals of the period in a two minute span late in the frame to take a 9-3 lead into the half.
Cabrini's lead swelled to 11-3 as Krug and Klein scored unassisted goals early in the stanza. A Griffins' goal snapped the Cavaliers' 5-0 spurt, but freshman
Evan Trizonis' goal re-established the eight goal cushion at the 8:41 mark.
LoParo and Krug netted the final two goals of the third quarter, as Krug's goal with four seconds to play pushed the Blue and White lead to 14-5 with 15 minutes to play.
Jacob Snavely and Dominic Moscariello combined for five goals and six points for the Griffins (7-3, 4-1 CSAC). Goaltender Chris Burns recorded 12 saves in the loss.
The Cavaliers will look to extend their NCAA-record 113 game CSAC win streak on Saturday, as they visit Marywood University (7-6, 4-1 CSAC). Game time is set for 4pm in Scranton, PA.
