RADNOR, PA - The Cavaliers evened their record at 1-1 today, as the Cabrini field hockey team claimed 1-0 win over Drew University at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
The Blue and White rebounded quickly from last night's loss, outshooting the visiting Rangers 11-2 on the day.
Sophomore
Trisha Billig scored the day's lone goal in the 17th minute, streaking past several Drew defenders before beating Rangers' goaltender Ryann Callaghan to complete the breakaway. The goal marked the first of the season and first of the sophomore's career.
Cabrini held its lead through the first half, as it held Drew without a shot.
The Cavaliers surrendered two shots and three penalty corners in the second half, but junior goaltender
Devon Scharf posted saves on both of Drew's shots to secure her first career shutout.
The visitors fought until the final second, recording one last scoring chance just before the buzzer, as a centering pass rolled through the critical scoring area untouched.
Freshman
Lindsey Pozaic matched Billig with three shots in the win, while fellow rookie
Lauren Vanstone added two shots.
Callaghan finished the day with five saves for the Rangers (0-2).
The Blue and White will return to training before returning to action next Saturday, when the Cavaliers visit Gettysburg College (0-1). Game time is slate for 1pm.
