2nd Half Flurry Dooms Field Hockey in Loss to Stevens

RADNOR, PA – The Cabrini field hockey team's offensive struggles continued today, as the Cavaliers suffered an 8-0 loss to Stevens Institute of Technology.

The Blue and White's third consecutive shutout drops the team to 1-5 on the season.

Stevens grabbed an early lead, finding the back of the cage just two minutes after the opening whistle and added a second goal seven minutes later.

The Cavaliers recorded five penalty corners in the first half to just two for Stevens, but the Blue and White could not convert its chances into goals, as it trailed 2-0 at the half.

While Cabrini looked to get on the board early in the second stanza, Stevens wasted little time putting the game out of reach. The Ducks recorded three goals on three shots in the first seven minutes of the second half to put the game away.

The Cavaliers recorded eight shot son the day, with sophomore Trisha Billig accounting for four. Sophomore Gabby Thompson joined freshmen Lindsey Pozaic and Kaitlin Martin for the Blue and White's three shots on goal.

Junior goaltenders Devon Scharf and Noelia Ramirez combined for five saves in the loss.

Skylar Migliaccio paired two goals and an assist for Stevens (4-3), as nine Ducks recorded a goal or an assist.

The Blue and White will look to change its fortunes on Saturday as it meets Hendrix College (1-3) for the first time in program history. The action will get underway at 12 noon at Edith Robb Dixon Field.
